An exciting GT hunting adventure in Lamu, combining 6 full days of serious offshore fishing with comfortable accommodation in Shela.

The programme is built for anglers who want to concentrate on giant trevally through popping and jigging, while also targeting a range of powerful reef and offshore species.

Each fishing day

6 full days on the water

The same shape every day: away from the beach before 06:00, a full day on the grounds, and lunch on board so that no time is lost going back to shore.

    Departure from the beach

    The accommodation is close to the beach, so the early start is quick and easy.

  2. Popping and jigging

    We fish the productive grounds around Lamu, Kiwayu and the surrounding offshore areas, chosen according to the weather, the sea conditions, the tides and the latest information from the local captain.

  3. Lunch on board

    Lunch is served on board with soft drinks and fresh fruit, so you can spend more time fishing without returning to shore for meals.

Season

End of October to early April. This is the main period for our GT popping and jigging programme, with the approach adjusted to the seasonal conditions and the species available.

Minimum group

The package is for a minimum of 4 anglers. It is ideal if you want several consecutive days on the water, focused on GT hunting with popping and jigging while also targeting other reef predators.

Our Lamu jigging and popping boat

Our Lamu fishing operation runs a 42 ft Arabian Craft sport-fishing boat, powered by twin 300 HP engines and built for serious offshore fishing.

Where you sleep

Shela, Lamu

Our aim is to make the fishing week as comfortable and as simple as possible, from where you sleep to the early-morning walk down to the boat.

  • 7–8 nights’ accommodation

  • An open lounge under a makuti roof with carved daybeds, orange cushions and a view out to the palms
  • A lit courtyard pool below the arcades of a Swahili house, a rooftop terrace, and the building seen from outside
  • A large bedroom with a bed under a tied mosquito net, a carved chair and a door through to the bathroom
  • A four-poster bed under a mosquito net, a white bathroom, and a sitting room open to a high makuti roof
  • A carved stone bathroom doorway, a bed looking out to the sea through an arched window, and a veranda with wooden shutters
  • A wide bed against a moulded plaster headboard, a carved dressing mirror, and a second bedroom in white plaster
  • An ochre plaster bathroom with a rain shower, a bedroom under mosquito nets, and a balcony over the rooftops
  • A white plaster shower room with a rain head, basin and backlit mirror
